Description
"Yankee Farmlands No. 7"
East Windsor, Connecticut, USA
This piece brings you to a sprawling shade tobacco farm on the flatlands of Northern Connecticut where ominous clouds hang over a sun-baked tobacco shed beside fabric-covered fields of tobacco plants which have reached 7 to 8 feet in height.
Perhaps one of New England's most unusual crops, shade tobacco is grown only throughout the narrow corridor of the Connecticut River Valley from Northern Connecticut up into Southern Massachusetts. Acres upon acres of this unique tobacco are raised beneath a fabric canopy that diffuses the sunlight and produces a supple, light-colored leaf which is considered one of the finest in the world. Several luxury cigar brands wrap their cigars with genuine Connecticut Shade Tobacco.
